cold nights, written by Toni L.A. Cross 9/29/09

cold nights
to cuddle close

our breath
forming crisp icy clouds
above our snug little nest

my head
on his chest
listening
to the steady beat of love
matching the clock’s tick-tock

the blanket
over us

reminds me of the years
to a child it seems endless
but to an adult
it barely covers us

just two
keeping each other

near to each other
not one alone
and not more than us
at least for now

sweet sighs
of happy snores
mix in harmonies
as the shadows dance
waiting for the sun to wake

About goatgirlbookworm

My name is Toni Cross, and I was raised on a farm in the far north of the United States. I love to read and write and I hope to use those hobbies in a greater way in the days to come. One of my passions is using whatever influence I have to make a difference in the world.
