black and white, written by Toni L.A. Cross 12/18/09

black and white
squiggles on paper
lines and curves
a little boy looks on
and that’s all he sees

a man with wild hair
pours over the page
hearing a symphony
singing forth

black and white
squiggles on paper
lines and curves
a tow-headed girl in rags
puzzles at the mystery

a teacher with tired smile
pours over the page
hearing romantic verse
caressing her heart

black and white
squiggles on paper
lines and curves
a man looks on
trying to make sense of it

a boy in pajamas
pours over the page
and becomes a pirate
seeking hidden gold

black and white
squiggles on paper
lines and curves
a wonderful world
a hidden place of knowledge
