a world all his own… by Toni L.A. Cross

he lives in a world all his own

and thinks he blends into ours

he dreams and he drinks all alone

as assaulting rain pelts down in showers

wind wields its malicious whip

and scourges his white mini-blinds

the edge of a can cuts his lip

near cases of beer and cheap wines

the tv scratches with static

empty air clawing at space

in this forsaken hole of an attic

on a street where the girls carry mace

and children get beaten with belts

he lives in a world all his own

but so does everyone else

A very hard portrayal of an environment characteriztic of so many cities and the lives of those trapped in them…well done Toni.
