welcome to the street… by Toni L.A. Cross

brittle beams
shards of sun
break on hard concrete
cruel day sneers
morning leers
welcome to the street
callous world
hate unfurled
i’ve a fate to beat
people glare
some just stare
or blare a car horn
statistic
they call me
dead before I’m born
doomed to lie
steal and die
none to care or morn
do you see?
am I, me,
human just like you?

I liked the structure of the poem…its form help to convey the overall message of the poem.
